Bruin the Bear
DescriptionThis bear was designed by Jamie Pringle and draws inspiration from autumn in Highland Perthshire, where orange-covered hills rise above the River Tay, capturing the wild, untamed beauty iconic to the Perthshire landscape. Bruin is a warm-hearted celebration of adventure, community and Scottish identity. Originally designed by Jamie and brought to life in 3D by Rio Moore, this collaborative piece combines flowing Pictish-inspired patterns with swirling forms that wrap around the bear’s body, creating a sense of movement, story and connection. The paw print on Bruin’s rear is a playful nod to the Bears Big Adventure trail, while his gentle expression reflects the welcoming spirit and values of the YMCA.
The Auction
A bear-illiant way to back Tayside’s youth!
After the trail ends, the sculptures will be sold at an auction evening on 17 September 2026 at the historic Scone Palace.
All money raised will support YMCA Tayside and our youth work services to young people aged 8-25, mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds.
